A Right Royal Report

So how has your week been? What kind of Friday did you have? Today was...um...shall I say eventful.

It started off ok. Up as usual, showered and even managed to grab some breakfast. Left home for work (just a 10 mile trip today). But my day was about to take a turn. Half way down the dual carriageway there was the resonant beeping sound that I've come to know and love loathe. Yes, you've guessed, the dreaded engine light blinking and beeping... Dun. Dun. Dahhhhhh.

My car is an enigma. I've had it for 5 years - a very cute pale blue Citroen Pluriel convertible. HOWEVER (and that's a very big HOWEVER...) it's been in the garage more than it's been on the road. You name it, it's been tweaked, changed, oiled, hammered and generally "done", so much so that the car has had a complete overhaul with no part unchanged. It should be purring like a kitten. But no... I can't begin to express my embarrassment at breaking down in the fast lane of a dual carriageway at rush hour. I don't blame my poor little car for giving up - it's done enough mileage to get to the moon and back...! (I kid you not...)

I didn't make it to school today - no surprises there. It looks like I'm on the train on Monday (luckily there is a station quite close to the school). Guess what - top of my summer bucket list will be looking for a new car.

Today was not a total waste, though. I managed to get a few hours to myself to finish off the next part of my Jubilee set. This one is quite cute - a full unit giving you all you need to plan interview questions, present written reports and diary extracts, write a thank you letter to The Queen, plan and create a story board for  film, and even paint a portrait of you with Her Majesty. It's suitable for G1-5 as all of the activities can be pitched at different levels and ages, and I have included different types of writing frames. Take a look and let me know what you think. Which brings me nicely onto the exciting announcement I promised you yesterday. It's awash with red, white and blue here. It's everywhere - shops, supermarkets, streets. The olympic flame arrived here today and the torch relay is starting tomorrow, lasting right up to the big day in 70 days time. There is a growing buzz of excitement in the air, and I want you to be part of it. So I've put together a little giveaway for you. I know that most of you are counting down the days to the summer break, but I hope this giveaway will be useful to you personally. You could always use it when school starts back up too. It's up to you - I know how resourceful and creative you all are.

So here it is:

The package includes:

  • a cotton tote bag
  • souvenir tea towel
  • two packets of paper kleenex (flags and currency)
  • Gingerbread Jack
  • decorative canister
  • three souvenir thimbles
  • Keep Calm and Eat Sweets

There is also some bunting and a DVD all about Princess Katherine. I'm sure one of you could put this lot to good use.

To take part all you have to do is:
