I have just test driven a new book by Angela Muse. "The Cat Who Lost His Meow" is a delightful little book with an underlying message of finding one's courage.

 

One day, Chester the Calico Cat opened his mouth to meow and nothing came out! He searched frantically for his voice, but to no avail. Without thinking of the consequences, his search took him to the top of a tall tree. Chester was frightened but plucked up the courage to make his way down. He was so overjoyed when he reached the ground that he opened his mouth and out came a celebratory meow! Through perseverance and courage, Chester achieved what he had set out to do. From that day he counted his blessings and made the most of them.

A fantastic tale with underlying messages for children and adults alike. This book is a great shared read, or can be read individually, as the language is accessible enough for new readers to have a go themselves. Children get drawn up in the suspense of whether Chester will ever find his voice again, and celebrate with him when he finally does.

About the Author: Angela Muse

Angela Muse was born in California to a military family. This meant that she got used to being the "new kid" in school every couple of years. It was hard trying to make new friends, but Angela discovered she had a knack for writing. In high school Angela began writing poetry and song lyrics. Expressing herself through writing seemed very natural. After becoming a Mom in 2003, Angela continued her storytelling to her own children. In 2009 she wrote and published her first rhyming children's book aimed at toddlers. Since then she has released several more children's picture books and released her first young adult romance series, The Alpha Girls, in 2012.
