"Now or Later" Activities

One of the biggest challenges facing a supply/sub is turning up in a classroom where no lesson plans have been left, maybe because the teacher has gone off sick, or for some other urgent reason. It is essential to have something that you can pull out of the bag that is quick and simple.

With this in mind, I have been working on a series of activities that you can draw on at any time. I call these my "Now or Later" activities. The first one is a series writing prompt cards that can be printed off and given to children either individually or in pairs, which can be used to create a story. The cards serve as their main points, and a simple story plan (to follow) will help them to pad out the detail. I am having a little trouble converting to PDF, but hope to have the link working later today.

In the meantime, here is the story plan to accompany the writing prompts. Click on the image to download the file.

  1. Hi Sue!

I absolutely love your idea of "now or later" activities! It is absolutely essential to have a back-up plan for when things don't go as planned. This is also a great way to get studens excited about writing through collaboration! Love it!

    P.S. I am your newest follower! :-)
